Fo:mme x Ejiro Designs

This month I’ve teamed up with handmade candle brand Fo:mme to deliver a unique collection of posters. As an illustrator I am passionate about making art accessible and representative of the beautifully diverse world we inhabit. It was only natural to team up with another brand which shares this vision. Read more to discover the creative process.

FommeNude+Shoot.jpg — “Fo:mme is inspired by the simplicity of Nordic design yet powered by the attitude and complexity of a woman. I created both the Fem & Fi body candles to challenge beauty standards and celebrate natural bodies. Both candles feature hip dips, belly rolls, bellies, bigger and smaller boobs. Highlighting the areas of our body that we may feel less confident about. I believe I've depicted them in such a way to challenge the narrative, and inspire women to love their bodies. After all the body is the greatest work of art, inclusive of all shapes and forms”

The Brief

Bearing these brand characteristics in mind, the brief was to create a range of posters which captured the essence of the candles, whilst showcasing the new range of skin tones.

We went through two concept rounds, exploring which style would best suit Nordic design principles. Although traditional media gave the imagery a classic feel; the grittiness of the lines on paper left us slightly wanting for minimalism. Using digital media allowed us to achieve the clean, crisp and sharp lines better aligned to Fo:mme’s branding.

Feminity, curves and sensual energy are a big part of my illustration style. It was a pleasure to translate the unique 3D moulds into a 2D perspective. The addition of colour was very important to this range in order to create standout vs the classic candle collection. Browns, coppers and caramel tones were chosen to highlight the new tonal range inspired by universal skin tones.
